
Sexual Health Awareness through Peer Education
SHAPE is a group of trained and knowledgeable college students and people living with HIV who provide sexual health workshops and outreach for youth and young adults with a focus on college students. College (Peer) Educators are trained in prevention education about pregnancy, STIs, and HIV/AIDS and people living with HIV (HIV Educators) focus on sharing their story.

Interested in becoming a SHAPE Educator?
All interested Peer Educators (current college students) enroll in the Peer Education Course offered in the Fall 2009 semester on Tuesday's from 2:00 - 4:40pm.

All interested HIV Educators (people living with HIV) please complete the application below and contact Kelly to schedule an interview. SHAPE invites HIV Educators to apply throughout the year.
What’s needed?
Good communication skills, responsibility, an open mind, flexibility, a team attitude, an interest in educating others, some knowledge in the area of sexual health and a desire to learn more.
Once Peer Educators complete the class, they can continue as active SHAPE Educators as long as they are enrolled in at least one college course. All SHAPE Educators are encouraged to play and active role in teaching the course and have ongoing roundtables and training events. Educators plan and lead workshops and other outreach events (World AIDS Day, National HIV Testing Day, Sexual Responsibility Week, etc) as their schedule permits, but with a willingness to contribute an average of 2-4 hours per week. SHAPE Educators may also complete additional training to offer HIV OraQuick Testing & Counseling.
